please to be clear, i'm only familiar with the 2006 IBC, and the test review was per the 2003 version. so if my comments do not account for the change in code, i apologize now.
there is no option for non-separated occupancies.
i did not review the numbers for accuracy for allowable areas per floor occupancy.
maximum building height did not account for a 60 foot limit for R1 occupancy. it just added the 20 feet to the 'basic allowable building height', which exceeded the 60 limit.
otherwise, i like what i see. nice way to backcheck my work. good luck.
couple more things. when printing to pdf (to review later), the floor occupancy table gets cut off (i used 4 different occupancy groups in the test).
it would help to have a link back to the home page, or to the starting point, in the summary page of the analysis.
also, the link to your homepage in all the webpages sends you to a splash screen "welcome to codecomply", but when you hit the "enter codecomply.com" link, it sends you to a non-existent page.
1. Review the R-1 requirements. 2. There is a table that gives separated and non-separated ratios. If you do not comply with non-separated use you can check to see if you comply with the separated use provision right below that. I am going to find a way that the user can customize the report and remove one of the tables if the user would like. 3. I am going to add a page break in a few places so that things can be printed out better. I should have a pretty impressive graphical layout setup in the near future. 4. I will fix the splash screen link. That does need to be removed!
You can not buy the software yet. The website is in beta testing and can be used for free. The website works for IBC 2000-2006 and the 2007 CBC. Just click the link on the main page. You will see all 4 options.
As the occupancy selection page does not permit identifying "incidental" uses. Where the area input by a user for an occupancy is small, it may be beneficial for the program to prompt the user to determine if the area is "incidental" or "accessory."
It does seem that this program could serve some purpose, but I am relieved that this online virtual code consultant will not replace us humans!
